FAQ

Parking

Where can I park when I take the bus from Ithaca?

Anyone with a valid Cornell faculty or staff parking permit can park their car in A lot, which is near the North Campus bus stop. Any passenger may park without a permit at the Oxley Equestrian Center Campus-to-Campus bus stop. There are approximately 10 spaces reserved exclusively for our customers; but, if those are full, you may park in any legal parking space in that lot. Please read signs carefully to avoid parking in restricted or handicap spaces.

Where can I park when I take the bus from New York City?

Campus-to-Campus does not have any parking arrangements for our customers from New York City.

Bus Stops

Where are the bus stops in Ithaca?

  • North Campus: At the bus shelter at Jessup Road and Jessup Drive, next to the basketball courts and kitty-corner to Robert Purcell Community Center. Look for the Campus-to-Campus sign on the TCAT bus stop signpost. Jessup Drive is a driveway that leads into A lot, however, the Campus-to-Campus bus does NOT make its pickups in A lot.
  • Sage Hall: At the bus shelter on East Avenue near its intersection with Campus Road, and across the street from the entrance to Statler Hall. Look for the Campus-to-Campus sign on the TCAT bus stop signpost. When dropping off in Ithaca, passengers alight on the Statler Hall side of the road.
  • Oxley Equestrian Center: Oxley is located next to the Reis Tennis Center on Pine Tree Road diagonally opposite  to East Hill Plaza. If you wait under the overhang at the entrance to the polo barn, there is shelter and a bench. The bus will pull up to the building entrance. Although no permit is required to park in the Oxley lot, please do not park in spaces reserved for the patrons of Oxley or Reis. This lot is not intended for vehicle storage for long-term trips.

The bus will make drop-offs only at the Best Western Hotel located adjacent to East Hill Plaza. If you would like to be dropped off at this location, you must inform the driver.

Where are the bus stops in NYC?

  • The Cornell Club of New York: This facility is located at 6 East 44th Street, just off Fifth Avenue, and between Fifth and Madison. It has a red awning over its entry. The bus picks up and drops off in the same place.
  • The Cornell Weill Medical Center: Cornell's Medical College is located on the Upper East Side. The stop is on the east, or northbound, side of York Avenue at the entrance to 1300 York Avenue, across from 69th Street. The covered entrance and glass enclosed lobby make a hospitable place to wait for the bus.

When should I get to the bus stop?

The drivers are directed, to the best of their ability, to leave their stops on time. They will not leave a stop early, even if no one is expected there. Please plan on arriving at your stop at least ten minutes early; this will not only ensure that you don't miss the bus, but will allow the driver time to get your belongings aboard, and will allow you time to get settled.

But my watch says...

Everyone's watch is set slightly differently. Official Campus-to-Campus time is Verizon Wireless time. All drivers, their supervisors, and Campus-to-Campus management carry Verizon phones, making this a standard we can easily set and follow. If you want to "synchronize" watches with us, call 607-227-6307.

On the Bus

What do I need to take with me to get on the bus?

Because there are no tickets issued for this service, we require photo identification for the driver to match with his or her manifest. If you print out and bring a copy of your confirmation as well, we would appreciate it.

How much luggage can I bring?

There is adequate space beneath the coach for each passenger to bring one or two reasonably sized suitcases. There is generous space onboard both overhead and by your feet for two carry-ons. There is a small coat closet behind the driver's seat if you have any hanging garments or garment bags--this will, by necessity be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Campus-to-Campus is not responsible for lost, forgotten, or stolen luggage.

Is the bus handicap and/or wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Most buses are lift-equipped and can accommodate a single wheelchair. To reserve an accessible bus or to arrange for wheelchair space, please call (607) 227-6307 at least 2 days in advance of your reservation.

Minor Children

What is the charge for a small child?

The price for all seats is the same. If a child (up to 2 years old) will be sitting on your lap there is no charge. If you don't purchase a seat for a child and there is an available seat on the bus, go ahead and use it; we won't tell. Please be aware that there are no seat belts on the bus. There are no restraints of any kind for car seats or infant carriers.

May a child ride unattended?

Minor children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Our service does not have staff available either on board or at any of the stop locations to supervise unattended children. Departure and arrival times are only estimates, and travel time can be affected by a number of variables (traffic conditions, weather emergencies, and mechanical failures). The bus driver is not in a position to be responsible for a child, either on or off the bus.

Changes/Cancellations

How do I change my reservation?

The on-line reservation system does not allow for changes to reservations. To change your reservation, please log in, view your travel history, cancel the trip you wish to change, and book a new trip that meets your changed needs.

If you are not near a computer, if you need to make a change within 24 hours of your scheduled trip, or if you need to make your change after you have already taken the first half of a round trip, please call  (607) 227-6307.

What is the penalty for cancelling?

We strive to be as flexible as possible, but want to make sure that seats are available to those who need them.

  • A reservation may be cancelled up until 24 hours prior to the time of departure without penalty.
  • A reservation cancelled within 24 hours of departure, but before the bus departs for NYC or Ithaca, will incur a $30 fee per seat. The credit card or department account will be credited for the original amount charged less $30 per seat.
  • If you cancel the return portion of a round trip more than 24 hours in advance, we will reduce the charge from round trip to one-way. If the cancellation occurs within 24 hours there would be a $30 fee per seat.
  • A cancellation that changes a group size may change the applicable charges. The cost will be recalculated before a refund is issued.
  • Please do not rely on voice mail or email to make your cancellations and changes, email is only monitored during business hours. E-mailing or leaving a voice message will not help you avoid a late cancellation fee or a missed bus charge. Our staff or an answering service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at (607) 227-6307.
