This website is being offered to provide you with important information and documents relating to the transportation-focused Generic Environmental Impact Statement ("t-GEIS"). The t-GEIS is being done to identify, examine, and evaluate the transportation-related impacts on the surrounding community of hypothetical population growth at Cornell University over the next ten years. It will also explore possible mitigations to these impacts. Once the draft t-GEIS, and eventually the final t-GEIS, are available, they will be put on this site as well. There will be opportunities for the public and involved governmental agencies to comment on the t-GEIS before it is final. These opportunities, along with the dates of public hearings will be announced on this website and in other media.

Generic environmental impact statements (GEISs) are still environmental impact statements (EISs) under New York State and Town of Ithaca Environmental Quality Review laws and follow all the same rules, however:

"Generic EISs may be broader, and more general than site or project specific EISs and should discuss the logic and rationale for the choices advanced...They may be based on conceptual information in some cases...They may present and analyze in general terms a few hypothetical scenarios that could and are likely to occur."
